Some users already have a preferred annotation solution, or find that the Annotate button obscures their view.

To disable the built-in annotations:

  1. At the top of your bookshelf dashboard, look for the status "Annotations are [on]."
  2. Click the "Turn off" button.
  3. After clicking, notice the text updates to "Annotations are off."

Now you will no longer see the Annotate button in publication views.

To re-enable, click the "Turn on" button.
